Backlinks – use the wrong methods at your peril

backlinks

Hmmmm, this is a immersive concept and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my analysis at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – basics

The more authority your site has the better you will rank on Google. Authority means that people trust you and your information. The great news is that authorities trusted by people are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A great example is the .edu and .gov domain extensions. These domains imply they are trustworthy sources of information and it’s an established fact that as far as Google is concerned backlinks from these web addresses to your site will send authority to your site. Another shining example is Wikipedia as the contents here are almost always authored by by tribes of humans as opposed to a single marketer.

So it follows that authority is largely influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative web pages link to your site then you receive their apparent trust and as far as Google is concerned you become more authoritative and hence the trust in your web pages by Google goes up.

How Google decides what is and isn’t authoritative is confidential for solid reasons and aligns with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the net needs is someone manipulating the mechanisms that Google uses in its efforts to try and regulate probably the most significant technological resource of this period in history.

How not to get Backlinks

And on this thought it’s worth my while stating some underhand sources and methods of building backlinks that Google not only disapproves of but appears to be acting to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the prime examples are:

  • Paid backlinks – web pages where people buy and sell backlinks
  • Comment spam – entries that contain links on blog pages that are just not associated to the main content.
  • Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
  • Unnatural growth – there are a myriad of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t dumb. Any sudden rise in the amount of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, especially if it’s a brand new domain.
  • Backlinks from ill reputed sites – these are particularly henous as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on dodgy ground, but major news portals appear to get a lot of authority and I have definitely discovered significant numbers of the same article over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as some of the results I am seeing defy the consistent behaviors I usually expect to see. More on this is in a future article….

Backlinks methods you should avoid

Phew, this is a immersive subject and I want to emphasise it’s not an exact science. But here is what I know in my research at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – explained

The more authority your web pages have the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that searchers trust you and your content. The great news is that authorities trusted by humans are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These suffixes imply they are authoratitive sources of information and it’s a proven fact that in the eyes of Google backlinks from these domains to your site will contribute authority to your web pages. Another shining example is Wikipedia as the web pages here are mostly authored by by tribes of people as opposed to a single person.

So it follows that authority is largely influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative web pages link to your web pages then you receive their apparent trust and as far as Google is concerned you become more authoritative and hence the trust in your content by Google goes up.

How Google pronounces what is and isn’t authoritative is a guarded secret for solid reasons and falls in line with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the Internet needs is someone exploiting the mechanisms that Google untilzes in its efforts to try and bring some order to probably the most significant technological development of our times.

Backlinking methods you should avoid

And on this thought it’s worth my while stating some ‘black hat sources and practices of creating backlinks that Google not only disapproves of but appears to be acting to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the common examples are:

  • Paid backlinks – web sites where people buy and sell backlinks
  • Comment spam – entries that contain links on blog pages that are just not associated to the main theme.
  • Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or otherwise
  • Unnatural growth – there are a large selection of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t stupid. Any sudden rise in the amount of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, especially if it’s a recently registered domain.
  • Backlinks from bad reputation web pages – these are particularly henous as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on shakey ground, but key press portals appear to get a lot of authority and I have definitely seen significant numbers of the same article over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as a portion of of the results I am seeing defy the normal behaviors I usually expect to see. how to get more backlinks

Hmmmm, this is a immersive concept and I need to emphasise it’s not an exact science. But here is what I have learned in my analysis at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – simplified

The more authority your web pages have the better you will rank on Google. Authority means that people trust you and your content. The great news is that authorities trusted by people are also recognised as trustworthy by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These suffixes imply they are trustworthy sources of content and it’s an established fact that in the eyes of Google backlinks from these web addresses to your web pages will send authority to your site. Another great example is Wikipedia as the web pages here are largely authored by by tribes of people as opposed to a single marketer.

So it follows that authority is significantly influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative web pages link to your web pages then you inherit their apparent trust and as far as Google is concerned you become more authoritative and so the trust in your site by Google increases.

How Google determines what is and isn’t authoritative is a guarded secret for solid reasons and aligns with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the net needs is an individual or a group manipulating the methods that Google uses in its efforts to try and regulate probably the most significant technological resource of this period in history.

How not to get Backlinks

And on this thought it’s valuable to state some common sources and methods of building backlinks that Google not only disapproves of but appears to be moving aggressively to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of severity, the common examples are:

  • Paid backlinks – web pages where people buy and sell backlinks
  • Comment spam – entries that contain links on web sites that are just not associated to the main content.
  • Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
  • Unnatural growth – there are a myriad of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t dumb. Any sudden rise in the number of backlinks is going to show up on Google’s monitoring systems, especially if it’s a brand new domain.
  • Backlinks from unscrupulous sites – these are particularly destructive as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on dodgy ground, but key media properties appear to get a lot of authority and I have definitely seen significant quantities of the same content over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still looking at this, only as a portion of of the results I am seeing defy the normal behaviors I normally expect to see. How to Get a Flood of Traffic and Backlinks with Article Marketing

October 10, 2009 by Gavin

Article marketing is one of the vital strategies for directing traffic to your site and getting the backlinks that are required for search engine optimization (SEO).  Articles are necessary when you want to market your business in the Internet and this is usually through the backlinks or links that you may be found in the articles that lead to your website.  Article marketing can help explode the traffic to your website and in turn increase your sales in two basic ways.  One way is by generating the backlinks that are essential for SEO that in turn will have the effect of driving traffic to your site.  The second way is made available by the tendency of people to inform other people regarding your helpful and informative articles, or through the process of word-of-mouth or viral advertising.

The ranking of your site is calculated by search engines for a keyword or phrase that are related to the focus of your website.  Maximizing the number of links that direct visitors to your website is an essential SEO technique and article marketing offers an effective way to naturally obtain these backlinks.  Take note that search engine algorithms have provided more importance to the links created naturally to counter black hat SEO techniques such as link farms.

People who were able to read your informative articles that you have submitted to publishers of online newsletters and e-zines, may also want to put your articles on their websites.  You let them do this with the condition that they ensure that the link to your site will function.  For example, if 200 people republish your article, you will have 200 backlinks that will surely improve your position in the search engine results pages.

Naturally, this will even get better in time as more and more people republish your articles.  In time, viral advertising comes into play as the people who have read your articles inform their friends about them.  You become recognized as an expert for a particular field and more and more people would want to read your articles and bloggers may even place links to your site on their posts.  It is expected that this will have a snowball effect that would prove to be very beneficial for your business as traffic to your site explodes.

However, it is necessary that your articles are of high quality and provide helpful information or you would have very few readers.  Luckily, quality article writing services are available for those who do not have the passion or time to write.

BREAKING NEWS: Attention all WordPress Bloggers

About me

I am a full time reviewer of Internet marketing tools and techniques. I get tens of questions on my blog every day from Internet marketers of all levels of experience. I have experienced what it is like to struggle financially, pay the bills and feed a family so I do this for money (because I have a family to support) and to help others in a similar predicament.

From my work I see that probably half of the Internet marketing community are honest people but the problem is a lot of them are not very adept at what they do and teach. Until recently the results of my testing have been posted on a limited number of websites whose owners have persuaded me to contribute in return for assisting me with my evaluations.

Over Six hundred products tested

The total number of ‘products’ I have reviewed over five years is just north of 600, naturally I will only be writing about products that are still for sale. Every product review is a direct result of me using the product in anger and naturally I will be sharing the good and the bad with my subscribers.

Simple to use and organised directory

On my blog I will be organising the ‘products’ summaries into groups, rating each product on the level of experience required, listing the prerequisites, how long you should expect to wait for results and the budget you should set.

First Edition – The ‘blueprint’ for WordPress blog success

I am going to commence with WordPress Blogs and what systems you can use to monetize them. Blogging is an easy thing that everyone should do and can make money from and so everybody who signs up to my e-mail list will get easy to follow instructions on how to set up a WordPress blog and turn it into a site that can generate cash.

Create once and replicate

Blogs are cool in as much once you get a blog working correctly and earning dollars then you simply replicate it. I have a fundamental rule of ‘getting a rope across the river’ before commencing on any significant amount of work so I always begin with constructing a ’concept car’ that I evolve into a blueprint that I can try out, refine and copy, to do this you have to really understand what products and strategies you need to use.

No bullshit, just answers.

So if you have a WordPress blog or you need some real guidance with your choice of Internet Marketing products then please do sign up to my list at www.backlinksclinic.com.

GENERATING TRAFFIC THROUGH BACKLINKS

September 14, 2009 by Gavin

It doesn’t do any good just to put up a website and expect to generate traffic.

You have to be noticed. And you are able do that by either paying for traffic employing Pay Per Click programs or you can create organic traffic by being well ranked in the top search results. The Least expensive option is free traffic.

There is one easy formula for placing well in the search engines: offer quality content and make sure you get lots of backlinks

IT TRULY IS A POPULARITY CONTEST

The performer who gets the most ballots on American Idol receives an instant show business career. And getting to the top of the search results is essentially the same process. People have to vote for you. And they will do that by creating backlinks. Every person who visits your site and makes a reference to it on their website creates a backlink. And every back link is a sort of substantiation.

It is guessed that more than 70% of the measures used by Google to determine what websites rise to the top of their results is the quantity and quality of the back links. And that makes good sense. If hundreds or thousands of websites think you deserve a reference, then you must obviously be doing something right. That’s why Google depends upon the voting public and will reward you by pushing your web site to the top of the search results.

Bottom line: to get to the top of the search engines, your web site has to be validated by others. In fact, without back links, you will probably not be found.

LINK BUILDING CAMPAIGN

A program should be systematic and continuing. It is better to create a thousand back links over 3 months than 3 days. Why? Because a large influx of backlinks will not look natural for a common web site. You will never be punished for having too many backlinks. In fact, MORE is always better than LESS, but if Goggle decides the popularity is less than natural, the back links can carry less weight.

There are a number of ways to create backlinks. Some are geared to quantity. Others to quality. At seo-back-links.com they have a resource entitled: 101 Back Link Ideas that offers an extensive list of suggestions on how to create backlinks. The unfortunate part is that most are very boring and time consuming.

There are ways to make your job much easier. Visit seo-back-links.com where they have a number of programs that are designed to get you both quantity & quality backlinks without the time consuming hassle.

Back links and their effects on web pages

backlinks

Before putting any effort whatsoever into creating any web pages you should have considered how you intend to get people to visit and ‘consume’ your content. It doesn’t matter if you’re in business, indulging in a hobby or trying to inform others with your web pages you are going to want to attract the attention of other people. You want the majority of visitors to come from search engines. The most economical and focused traffic is delivered by the search engines.

Search engines make money through presenting searchers with answers they are looking for. The more relevant and precise the search results the better the user experience and therefore the greater the chance the user will user will return. The more frequently users return to the search engine the more opportunity and income the search engines create. Your task is to work to achieve similar goals for your web pages.Position yourself in the mind of your users as a relevant source of information and make them visit over and over again.

So what is it you need to do?. You have two options and you can use both. You can write useful and relevant content or you can use the advertising methods offered by search engines and other properties.

From a search engines perspective there are only keywords and key phrases without these content on the Internet simply doesn’t exist. Search engines perform searches based upon the keyword or key phrase entered by the user. The keyword entered by the user causes the search engine to search its indexes for the most accurate and relevant web pages. The search engines decision about what pages to display in the results are based upon two key factors relevance and authority.

Relevance is determined by the occurrence of keywords in the web page content and authority is largely derived from back links from other web pages. The profile in terms of authority and the volume of back links are used by the search engines in deciding the position or ranking of a web page in the list of search results.

Back links are the number one priority you should focus on in web page optimisation.

Back links not only determine your position in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) but are a major source of visitor traffic. Users will follow links they find in content if the back link is labelled with relevant text. ‘Anchor text’ is the correct term to describe the text appearing as a link and contributes to the value given to the link by the search engines. Each back link has a value associated with it which can vary depending upon its origin.

The authority on the page from which a back links originates can influence the potency of the link to your web page. The higher the authority of the linking pages, the higher is the authority passed to your pages.

link building

I am going to be giving away guidance, training and advice to people who want to create a presence on the web or are struggling with their current web sites, here is why.

Although excited at the time I have excrutiating recollections of developing and setting up my first web presence back in 2000. Given the amount of knowledge and skills connected to the internet you might imagine that someone would have founded a reputable web site where newbies could go to learn all of the basics know how to create a successful web presence. Establishing your first web site can be quite scary if you are not sure how to proceed.

Things like comprehending the influence of back links and keywords, how they influence search engine page rankings and page authority, and the correlation between these and traffic volumes are complex and consistently badly taught by a large contingent of self proclaimed guru’s on the net. I have talked to so many individuals on and offline who would like to do this and simply don’t have the skills that I decided to do something about it.

After over seventy months of toiling on the internet, discovering, studying and trying out techniques to build successful web sites by drawing significant volumes of visitors. I felt compelled to educate people.

As a result pain and success I am lucky enough to be in a position to do this and devote a substantial amount of quality time to it. Most people who is just beginning or already establishing a presence on the web wants a quick win, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have come across high quality content and tools that work I am going to route my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.

Everything I have tried and tested that has produced good or excellent results will be incorporated in my training material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. On my journey I have created some techniques, tools and methods of my own that I consistently use which I will be including in the training.
