When using Squidoo as a means of leveraging your internet marketing, you will have to make sure that you are SEO optimising the pages properly.

You will have no control over the AdSense ads that are placed on your lens as these ads are controlled by Squidoo.  As they do not charge for their services, this is how they make their money.  Anyone can then click on one of the ads shown and leave your lens this way.

There are ways and means of controlling aspects of your Squidoo page, or lens as it is known.  It is up to you which keywords you use to show on Google.  This way you know you are proactively doing something to attract the search engines to the lens.  The best keyword density range is 2.8-3.3%.

If you make sure your keywords are bolded two or three times throughout each post, then Google will view it as significant.  There are also other ways of highlighting keywords in the text and one of these is to italic the words.  When you have chosen a main keyword for the text, this should ideally be placed as close to the beginning and end of it as possible.

Placing the main keyword in the title and url is another way of making sure you stay in favour with the search engines.  If you have to separate words in the url, it is best to do so using hyphens instead of underscores.  If you link all your lenses on your blog roll, then Google will be able to find each lens easier.

One of the most important things to ensure is that you get a lot of back links to your lens.  Posting up on other peoples lenses is a great way of getting these backlinks.  Try and use most, if not all, of the above pointers and you will see your lens rising in the rankings.
