Important Design Checklist for Your Business Website

When it comes to your business website design, extra attention should be paid to every detail to make sure it performs well to serve its purpose. Here are five crucial rules of thumb to consider to make sure that your website performs well.

1) Do not use splash pages

Splash pages are the first pages you see when you first arrive at a website. They normally have a beautiful image with words like “welcome” or “click here to enter”. In fact, they are just that — pretty vases with no real purpose. Do not let your visitors have a reason to click on the “back” button! Give them the value of your site up front without the splash page.

2) Avoid excessive banners

Eye tracking studies indicate that, while such banners might distract visitors to a website, modern visitors are accomplished at not noticing the content that the banners contain. Unless your business plan is advertising, the last thing you want to do with your visitors’ time on your site is to direct their attention away from your content (and the action that the content is designed to achieve).

3) Don’t construct hurdles in navigating the website

Your navigation menu should mimic what your site visitors have used many times before. Make it evident that your links to other pages are just that; they should be like directional sign posts on a highway. If you insist upon an animated, dynamic menu or a multi-level dropdown, also provide a tradition, text-based static menu in one of the traditional menu locations, such as along the left panel of the site. Besides, the static menu will contribute toward your search engine optimization efforts.

4) Provide a clear indication of where the user is

When visitors are deeply engrossed in browsing your site, you will want to make sure they know which part of the site they are in at that moment. That way, they will be able to browse relevant information or navigate to any section of the site easily. Don’t confuse your visitors because confusion means “abandon ship”!

5) Use audio only very cautiously

If you are determined to have sound automatically load, make certain that it a) makes a genuine contribution toward meeting your objectives, b) allows the site visitors to control and volume levels and c) is not on a page on which all of their attention should be focused upon reading the exquisite copy. If your audio does not meet all of these criteria, make the sensible choice and disable it.

SEO Will Help You Out

Believe it or not, SEO is a very important thing when it comes to running a site online. Something that is great about SEO is that the higher you are in the SERPS the more traffic you are going to recieve which of course means more money coming in.

How On Earth Does SEO Work?

A company that is good in offering the SEO service will know exactly what they are doing and they will target terms that are great for the business and get those terms ranking highly in Google. It is not entirely impossible for you to get an SEO internally but I would not say it is a brilliant idea because you are not likely to ber using SEo to the full potential which is why you should hire someone.

Basically a trained SEO Engineer will assess the site and look into the terms that he/she thinks are best for you to target. Of course you can come back and disagree but you have to realise that a trained SEO knows exactly what they are talking about. A smaller site is not likely to rank for a massive term, get some links coming into the site from some of the smaller terms first then go after the big ones. This is just one of the many reasons why an SEO may suggest you go for some of the smaller terms.

An SEO is not all about off site activity and they may tell you that you need a bit of web design to sort out some of the things on the site. This should always be taken into mind because a good site will allow an SEO to optimise the way that they do things in a better way.

So the next time you look into the SERPS and see you are not doing that well you may want to look into SEO!

A Cheap Web Design Service

In the cut and thrust, ever competitive market that is web design, there is always a good deal to be had. This is especially the case in the current financial climate as the recession has meant that many people are “tightening their belts” so to speak. The web design service industry has felt the full force of the credit crunch in the same way that many other business sectors have. As a consumer you can turn this to your own advantage by ensuring that as well as having a website designed and built that you also have six months of web promotion thrown in for free.

Now I am not a web designer; I actually run stuttering cure speech courses here in the UK and I also help people who have a low self-esteem to be able to increase self-confidence.

Now there may be a number of you; the readers of this article, that believe that to request a free website promotion service to go with the web design is some what cheeky. I would have to agree with you however it has to be worth a go – we are in a recession after all.

The example of buying a car is some what similar; my dad went through this experience only a few weeks ago. Now we have all hard about the problems in the car markets; the demise of General Motors being a prime example. My dad decided to make the most of their woes and went about securing himself a great deal. He knew the car he wanted and stated that he was only willing to pay a certain price, a price which was well below the car dealer’s asking price. He went around a number of car garages and put in his offer, eight of the dealerships turned down his offer but the ninth accepted it.

The point that I am trying to get across here is that the majority of web designers will not be happy to offer you a deal on these terms however there will be at least one person or company that will. It is important to ensure however that the person who accepts to build you a website and is happy to throw in some web promotion for free is capable of producing the goods and isn’t just some fly by night novice.

Nowadays, it appears that virtually everyone is jostling to buy expired web domain names to take advantage of the power of high levels of website traffic. Web experts and online professionals buy expired domain names for personal use or purchase a significant amount of  traffic from others who run a web-based business. The main idea is purchasing expired domain names that have an existing traffic flowing into them. The amount of traffic could vary from a couple of visitors to thousands per day.

There are a certian significant factors that you need to consider and evaluate very meticilously prior to making a decision to buy the expired web domain name. Just to give you an idea of the complexity of the of the process, even professionals who buy expired domain names spend much time to contemplate on the possible benefits and advantages that come with the domain.

Before you finally proceed to buy an expired web domain name, you will have to evaluate the following parameters. You have to know how urgent it is to acquire an expired domain name despite of the possible drawbacks. If it is indeed urgent to get one, then you have to set a time frame as to how quickly you want to accomplish the transaction. Finally, think of how much you are willing to allot for the eventual purchase of an expired domain name.

Most Web masters and professional expired web domain name buyers are searching for unique names, particularly those composed of one syllable, un hyphenated names that can muster several ‘type in’s’. Such domain names are valuable not only for the name itself but also for dumping strategically laid adverts with a pay per click search engine which can bring in revenue for the name until an interested buyer is ready to purchase the domain name. You may want to check out DMOZ or Yahoo because the names listed there ought to be the ones that you should consider.

You have to be aware of several factors before you start shopping for expired web domain names. First, you should never discount the possibility that the original owner can go after you for apparently’stealing their name.’ Next, you have to make sure that the domain name is listed in a suitable category for your pruposes. Finally, you have to make a background check as to the history of the site so that you can rest assured that you are not buying something that was previously used for dubious purposes.

So we have gathered some perfect tips that have assisted us over the years and make them accessible here to assist you through your next project.

Many people that have limited resources often do not prepare enough for their project. Newcomers to the web design procedures fail to plan correctly because they normally fail to account for many of the inflexible costs that they will inevitably have to account for. There are necessary costs such as monthly costs and other vital services that you should consider before hand.

On top of these costs that you can almost definitely count on incurring there might also be other costs associated with your specific needs. For example, most site designers will eventually run into standard costs for the majority of third party services such as newsletters, mailing lists, security auditing, video encoding, or ecommerce solutions. These fixed fees will be reoccurring and the majority of the time and have to be accounted for.

You should also anticipate the amount of time you will have to contribute collaborating with others. This is because you will have to communicate with many individuals during the procedure. Lack of communication is quite commonly the cause of projects running over schedule.

In conclusion, all of these aspects will have to be considered in order to manage things like a professional web design company.

As part of their consultation, website developers should feel obligated to mention search engine optimisation seo, to their clients. Many of them do so, others do not. The reason why some website service providers ignore mentioning SEO services is because:

Many new arrivals do not know much about e-commerce search engine, and how they function. They believe that all they need is a Web site, at any time, on its Web site, will spread like wildfire a simple off-line advertising and word-of-mouth. They know how much until a few months later, when they suddenly wake up to realize their online business is a mess!

Web crawlers are attracted to search engine friendly websites. Web designers know that quite well, and if they want to offer their clients impeccable services they should reveal that information up front. For convenience, they could even include search engine optimization in their basic web design packages, or offer it as an affordable add-on option. Explain the importance of search engine optimization tools, they will not only help their clients, but also enhance their reputation. Whether you believe it or not, most people still respect and appreciate honesty and a full range of services.

Clients, who do not feel the immediate need for SEO, should be informed that the longer they wait, the longer they will be invisible to search engines. These customers should also be said that its costs may be a substantial increase, if they wish to optimize their site after the. One of the reasons the fee could increase is because some of the original page lay-outs may be unsuitable for a user and search engine friendly design. For example: the content is not attractive may have to rewrite, web pages may need to re-arrangements and the slow loading Flash video to remove.

There is no doubt that this! Marketing strategy has changed, and today no enterprise will reach the top search engine rankings and search engine optimization. Be it Google, Yahoo, Bing, MSN or Ask, they are all hungry for keywords, link building, proper page structures, HTML, or anything else that will feed their everlasting appetite for information. So, why not give it to them?!

Web Design Basics – SEO And Web Design

Whats the single most important aspect of web design, aesthetics or SEO? This really is the chicken and egg question of the internet age but the answer you give will be heavily weighed by the job you do.

A graphics design specialist will debate that in most of cases that the web design is the priority of course. And let’s face it without that visually attractive to the eye design a visitor will leave your site within the blink of an eye or so they would have you believe. But then that raises an even more challenging question how did they find your site in the first instance?

The typical web development curve goes along the lines of visual design is storyboarded for client ..website design looks excellent let’s go for it. What about content ok, we’ll rustle something up…..website is uploaded and time passes but no visitors!

And then more time passes until eventually perhaps more than a few months later the situation is either so bad or the company are having to invest in adwords that finally the SEO expert gets called in or the boss starts asking questions, and before you know it you are on a 6 month search engine marketing campaign to try and achieve some search engine results.

Is this the fast road to success? The thousands of website owners that have been through this exact cycle will certainly argue that it most definitely is not as this hope for the best web development criteria delays any websites success by unacceptable periods of time, and even more frightening  results in huge losses of both business opportunity and profitability.

In reality the search engines paid no heed to the visual aspects of web design but with minimal attention to search engine optimisation so often this first opportunity to make an impact when the site first gets indexed is lost, if all the search engines find is a appalingly optimised site with minimal regard paid to any SEM requirements or keyword capture.

With only a little extra investment spent on pre development SEO ,for example keyword research and optimisation gives an outstanding return on investment as invariably initial indexing is bound to achieve a far better SERPS position from the very start and sometimes depending on the competition a page one result straight away.

Who Is Your Website Audience?

Understanding the type of people who visit your site is a very important task because you can use that information to enhance your site to suit them. As a result, you will gain more loyal returning visitors that come back again and again for more.

What is the age level and what kind of knowledge does your audience have? A layman might linger around a general site on gardening, but a professional botanist might turn his nose at the very same site. Similarly, a regular person will leave a site filled with astronomy abstracts but a well educated university graduate will find that site interesting.

Take your audience’s emotional state into consideration when building your site. If a very irritated visitor searches for a solution and comes across your site, you will want to make sure you offer the solution right up front and sell or promote your product to him second. In this way, the visitor will put his trust in you for offering the solution to his problems and is more likely to buy your product when you offer it to him after that.

When you design the layout for your site, you have to take into account the characteristics of your audience. Are they old or young people? Are they looking for trends or are they just looking for online information served without any icing on the cake? For example, introducing a new, exciting game with a simple, straightforward black text against white background page will definitely turn prospects away. Make sure your design suits your site’s general theme.

Try to sprinkle colloquial language in your sites sparingly where you see fit and you will create a sense that your audience is on common ground with you. This in turn builds a trusting relationship between you and your audience, which will come in useful should you want to market a product to your audience.
